The Amazon rainforest is being threatened RIGHT NOW! The Brazilian senate is presently considering lifting the ban on sugarcane farming for ethanol in the forest.
This is just another threat of a monocrop culture disrupting the natural balance and intricate relationship between plants, animals and insects in the forest.
To this day, large amounts of Amazonian lands have been seized and cut down for the production of GMO soy plantations. Thousands of acres have been deforested for cattle pasture.
When a tree is cut down, the entire ecosystem of insects, bacteria and animals is destroyed. This changes the immediate environment of where that tree once lived. Many species disappear with the tree.
The biodiversity of plant and animal species in the Amazon rainforest is the highest on Earth and a large part of them are only found in this region and nowhere else.
We can support the conservation of this unique biome in many ways, including:
Another way is to encourage the sustainable management of natural resources in the forest. This is what we do at Manaòs Beauty.
With this regenerative approach, the trees don’t need to be cut down. We offer local communities the opportunity to create long-term solutions for economic empowerment.
This way, we help the forest to thrive in its all vibrancy by keeping the trees alive for many generations to come.
